Status Update - 7/17

I has been sometime since I have last updated this blog. I just want to reassure everyone that I'm still working hard on property reflections. I feel like I'm on track for a mid September release. I'm very confidence that we will meet the goal of providing an easy to use , cutting edge real estate CRM solution.

I finally have propertyreflections.com up and running - with a little bit more info about the project.

Internet Explorer 8

On 3/3/2008 Microsoft announced that it was changing Internet Explorer 8 behavior , and will render all sites in a super standards mode unless told not to.

Quote from the Microsoft IE8 Blog:

"We've decided that IE8 will, by default, interpret web content in the most standards compliant way it can. This decision is a change from what we've posted previously. Microsoft recently published a set of Interoperability Principles. Thinking about IE8's behavior with these principles in mind, interpreting web content in the most standards compliant way possible is a better thing to do."

This is big news, as older versions of IE (including 7) has had very poor support for web standards like Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and other standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

With IE 8 finally going with web standards, developers will no longer have to use special hacks and other tricks within IE to get there sites to appear to correctly within IE.

this is good news if this makes it to the final released version.

Realty-Juggler?? Hosting Provided Selected!

So after months of looking and research, I have choosen servint as our hosting provder. And so far it been great.

I'm still harding working code beta one of Property Reflections , I will have more info on beta one soon!

On ActiveRain - I can cross this thread about Realty-Juggler .

The RJ interface is, in my opinion, ugly and amateurish looking and comes with the clumsiness that is natural to ugly, amateurish interfaces. TP7i is just so professionally designed and works very well and more intuitively (to me, anyway).

if people are leaving top producer for something like Realty-Juggler, then Property Reflections should grow like gamebusters!

Top Producer 8i Beta?? Property Reflections Development Begins!

It has come to my attention that Top Producer 8i is now available as a beta. One of the biggest change, in my opinion, is that the software is moving away from the MS Java platform. The new Top Producer 8i is based on ASP.net and AJAX. And you had to see this coming - there is going to be a price increase. There is no word yet that it going to work on non windows based system.

Even with the upcoming Top Producer 8i release , I still feel that Property Reflections will still have a number of advantages over Top Producer 8i along with Mac and Windows Support from Day 1.

So I can officially announces that development has begun with Property Reflections! We should be available in beta ourself within the next few months.

Property Reflections = leaner and faster
Top Producer 8i = bulkier and slower

So What is Property Reflections?

Property Reflections is an Real Estate Productivity Application, providing client management, scheduling, marketing, feedback from showings, and listing management solutions. (Our application is comparable to something like Top Producer 7i or HomeFeedBack.com) Property Reflections well be build on an latest web standards and compatible with all major browsers. (Top Producer 7i suite of products only supports is Internet Explorer)

I know that there are others already providing services in the space, however I believe we have a very compelling product. With the initial release of Property Reflections we are going to provide a core features set to the product and continue to update the application based on user feedback. Is in a nutshell that's Property Reflections!

The Genesis

Happy New Year! I'm officially starting the design of the Property Reflections web application. So far I have a number of mockups done in photoshop (which I may post a small preview soon) and mapped out the basic architecture of the application.

I have been contemplating if I would going to using php5(+ a framework) or ruby on rails. I have officially decided that I'm going to use ruby on rails develop this application(don't worry I still love php).

I'm still looking for an hosting partner for my application -so if you know any good Dedicated hosting services let me know! So in our next post we'll talk more about Property Reflections, what is it? and what does it have to do with real estate? and more!
